About Full Fathom Five Marine
Full Fathom Five was founded in 2022 by Jessica Cook Hale, RPA, PhD, to offer critical services for cultural resource management needs in submerged contexts. FFF focuses primarily on pre-contact archaeology and Quaternary geology to ensure that these components of environmental impact assessments for undertakings conform to the highest scientific standards. However, our capabilities also include historical research, production of reports to specific agency standards, and data analysis.
Dr. Cook Hale brings a strong background in geosciences and anthropological archaeology to FF5. She has nearly 20 years of experience in scientific diving and over 20 years of experience in archaeological geophysics. She has worked on both terrestrial and submerged sites in Europe as well as North America. These experiences included survey and excavation on sites ranging in age from Iron Age Roman Gaul to Archaic period submerged shellfish middens in the Gulf of Mexico to the historic Wormsloe Plantation on the Isle of Hope just outside Savannah, Georgia. In addition to her work as a consultant, Cook Hale remains actively engaged in research initiatives across multiple submerged pre-contact sites and continues a strong trajectory of publishing in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
